A red carpet arrival is a scheduling problem disguised as a glamorous one. There is a slot, it is usually about ninety seconds wide, and every vehicle in front of you is trying to hit its own. Turning up early is as unhelpful as turning up late. What makes it work is knowing the traffic plan in advance and holding somewhere sensible until the moment you are called forward.

What we do differently for a carpet

• The traffic plan first — we obtain the drop-zone arrangements from the event's transport coordinator before the day, not on the night.
• Held, not circling — the vehicle waits in a pre-agreed position minutes away and moves on your call.
• Presented to photograph standard — machine-polished, glass cleaned inside and out, interior detailed. A car that looks acceptable on a Tuesday does not look acceptable in a photograph.
• Kerb-side discipline — the chauffeur knows which side the carpet is on and stops so that the correct door opens onto it.
• A planned exit — the departure position is agreed at the same time as the arrival, so leaving takes one message.

Most premiere bookings are not a single journey. They are a collection: talent from a hotel, publicists from an office, a party moving on to an after-event, and someone who needs to leave forty minutes before everyone else.
